e107 was a lighter-weight CMS than Mambo or XOOPS, built by a single developer and favoured by hobbyists who wanted a themeable site with news, downloads, a forum and user management without the overhead of a full portal framework. It found a particular home among gaming clans and small community sites, who liked its straightforward admin area and its library of freely available themes. It never achieved the install base of Joomla or Drupal, but it kept a loyal following through the 2000s.
