As promised in my intro thread: where should a brand new comic go? I'm leaning towards Drunk Duck because of the community, but I'm worried about looking amateur.
Drunk Duck pros: built-in readers, people actually comment, the front page can send you a lot of traffic. Cons: the URL, and the site can be slow.
Smack Jeeves gives you more control over your layout, which is why I picked it. The community is smaller though.
Own domain if you're serious about it long-term, but there are no readers there until you bring them. A lot of people start on Drunk Duck or SJ and move once they have an archive. If you do, put a big link on the old site pointing to the new one.
Whatever you pick, buy the .com for your title now. It's $9 and you'll regret it if someone else grabs it.
+1 to buying the domain now. And launch with at least 10 pages up and a buffer.
Bought the domain last night! Going to start on Drunk Duck and see how it goes. Thanks, all.
