    Client wants "the glossy buttons, like on all the Web 2.0 sites". Reflection, gradient, rounded corners, and a beta badge (it's not a beta). I've done a version with less shine.

    Is the glossy look dead yet, or am I just tired of it?

    You're tired of it. Clients aren't. Do the subtle version and show them the loud one next to it, they usually pick the subtle one when they see both side by side.

    The beta badge thing is the funniest trend of the last three years. Gmail is still beta.

    Update: they picked the subtle one, and the beta badge is gone. Kerning's trick works.
