Six months after the game missed its September 30 date, there is still no firm release date for Half-Life 2. We round up the latest statements from Valve and Vivendi and weigh in on why nobody should pencil in a date just yet.

Valve has said very little since the source code leak last October. Vivendi's last financial report still lists the game for this year, which is about all anyone has on the record.

The good news is that Valve has been showing the game to the press again, and the people who have played it say it is coming along. The bad news is that we have heard that before.

Our guess: not before summer. Feel free to tell us we are wrong in the comments.
