The Riverside Linux User Group started in the fall of 1998, when five people who had met on a Usenet newsgroup got together at a coffee shop to swap Red Hat 5.1 CDs. We've met every month since, first at the coffee shop, then at the community college, and since 2001 at the Riverside Public Library.

We are an informal group. There are no dues and no officers apart from a coordinator who books the room and keeps this web site running. Our members include students, retirees, programmers, a few system administrators and a lot of people who just want their computer to work.

What we do:

  • A monthly meeting with a short talk and open Q&A
  • Install-fests four times a year
  • A mailing list for help between meetings
  • Free install CDs for anyone who asks

This site moved to Mambo in March 2004. The old pages from 1999 to 2003 are gone, but the mailing list archive goes back to 2001.
