Windows 7 -- name's official, PDC at the end of the month

Postby Vectrex_Kid on Tue Oct 14, 2008 1:10 pm

Microsoft confirmed it this week: the next version is officially called Windows 7. They'll show it at the PDC on the 28th. Rumours are a ribbon in Paint and WordPad, a new taskbar, and fewer UAC prompts.

Version 6.1 by the way, if you look at the build strings. Same kernel as Vista. Which is fine, honestly, SP1 fixed most of what was wrong with Vista.

As long as it's not Vista. Still on XP and staying there.

Hope they keep the drivers compatible. I don't want to go through 2007 again.

Windows 7 named after... 7 what? 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista... that's more than 7.

They count the NT line. 1 through 6, then 7. Don't think too hard about it. :geek:
