Since going to 1.5 Firefox sits at 180 MB after a day with ten tabs. Is this the famous leak or am I doing something wrong?

Part of it is the new back/forward cache, it keeps rendered pages in memory. Set browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers to 0 in about:config and see if it improves.

Down to about 110 MB with that. Adblock was holding onto something too, disabled it for now.

Extensions are usually the problem. Try a clean profile before blaming the browser.
