Mothlight's colour page walkthrough (Hollow Hill ch. 4)

As promised! Here's how I did the chapter 4 colour page.

1. Inks done in Manga Studio, exported as a 600dpi PSD.
2. Flats the Kirabel way (thanks!!).
3. Shadows: one Multiply layer in a lavender colour instead of grey. This is the big trick, grey shadows look dead.
4. Airbrush on a Soft Light layer for the glow from the lanterns.
5. A scanned watercolour paper texture over everything on Overlay at about 30%.

Took about 9 hours total. Probably not doing that every chapter.

Hollow Hill - chapter 4 is up! read from the start

The texture overlay is genius. Trying it this weekend.

I don't colour but this was a nice read. The lantern glow is lovely.

Real ink. Real paper. Real smudges.
